Robert Seidel
Jena, Germany

Robert Seidel was born in 1977 in Germany. During college, he took 2 semesters of biology, and this experience helped to inspire and inform his visual art aesthetic. From 1998-2004, he attended the Bauhaus University Weimar, and received a degree in Media Design. Since then, he has created a collection of video and animation work that often evokes a world of biological 3D-reconstructions.

Seidel's films have been shown at over 200 festivals, museums, and galleries worldwide and honored with several prizes. For example, his film _grau won an Honorary Award at the Cologne KunstFilmBiennale and the Prize for Best Experimental Film at Ottawa International Animation Festival. He has also won a Prix Ars Electronica Honorary Mention for Computer Animation/Visual FX.

Seidel currently lives in Jena, Germany. In addition to his personal art he works as a director and journalist. His clients include Atlantic Records, Sleek, Universal Everything, ARTE/ZDF, Digital Production, creative live, Professional Production, Addison-Wesley, Markt & Technik and Galileo Design. For his Zero 7 music video he was chosen as one of "30 directors to watch" by Canada's leading commercial production magazine 'boards.
