Theory of Everything
Exponential
San Antonio, TX
Ernest Gonzales is a "Hyphenated American" aka Hispanic, Chicano, Latino, or Mexican -- whatever you want to call it. He grew up next door to the Alamo, but his Spanish is muy pequito. Gonzales is the only child of an electrician father and a Home Depot customer service rep mom. Latch-key only child = video games, drawing trees, making bow and arrows, too much MTV, and pizza pockets. Somehow in between engineering camps Gonzales decided to go to art school, but he has no plans to paint the Virgen de Guadalupe.
During college, Gonzales used extra scholarship money to buy his first drum machine. (See kids...it does pay off to make good grades.) All this lead him to music production. He is currently a member of the Supa Brotha Scientist DJ crew, which also includes DJ Donnie D, 2005 US DMC Turntable Finalist, DJ Jester the Filipino Fist, and Prince Klassen. He is also the label owner of Exponential, an indie hip hop/electronic record label based in San Antonio.
In the last several years, Ernest has opened for Mr. Lif, Raekwon, Aesop Rock, and Grand Buffet to name a few. He has recorded 2 DJ Jester albums, one for the prestigious WFMU in New York. Most importantly, his favorite food is pineapple fruit cups, and as Theory of Everything, has no plans on making any raggaeton beats.
