 OCELOT is Cory Kilduff of Austin, TX and James Welsh of Leeds, England. Both were programmers and knob twisters in the hardcore band, The Rise. In between relentless writing sessions for the second Rise record, they started to work on a new body of heavy electronic music with a distinctly different and more dance-oriented sound. When The Rise came to an end, the boys were still flooded with remix requests and even asked to play shows. Thus, Ocelot was born.
Being on opposite sides of the Atlantic Ocean, Kilduff and Welsh cultivated Ocelot out of countless iChat transfers, bit by bit, from Texas to England, assembling the pieces until each track was completed. Eventually, the idea of Ocelot as a full-time project became a reality and the two found themselves producing their own songs in addition to all the remixes.
A few times a year Kilduff and Welsh are able to get together and work in the same room, fleshing out new material at an alarming rate. They also play occasional joint live performances, including an appearance at this year's SXSW and a recent UK tour. With plenty of experience under their belt, Ocelot has entered the studio to work on a series of 12" singles and a forthcoming full length to debut on IHEARTCOMIX records.
