Varelsen
Malmo, Sweden
Varelsen is a studio of creatives based in Malmo, Sweden. They develop and produce motion graphics, moving pictures, print and web, as well as develop design concepts and solutions.
Kristofer Strom is a primary member of Varelsen and the director of many of its animation pieces. He has always loved to doodle and create strange little creatures.
His multi-faceted life as an illustrator, animator, flash programmer and musician in Malmo, Sweden was one day given another direction when, in Ikea, he saw a whiteboard for sale and had an idea.
The result was a homemade video for minimalist Swedish techno duo Minilogue, which Kristofer posted on YouTube. It has since clocked up over 3 million views and been featured in Shots as well as winning the “Best Budget Video” award at this year’s CADs. Kristofer was even named “Face of Youtube” in Sweden.
Since then, Kristofer has been busy re-branding Carphone Warehouse, including the X-Factor idents, press and TV commercials through CHI. Despite all the hard work he is still releasing his strange creatures into our digital lives, most noticeabley in his Minilogue sequel "Animals" which is already causing similar waves of excitement to tear through the internet.
