Ensemble Pamplemousse (New York, NY)
AMODA is thrilled to host Ensemble Pamplemousse, a group of five New York-based composer/performers who have been described as both ‘extremely forward looking’ and ‘breathtakingly virtuosic.’ The ensemble’s first Austin appearance promises to be among AMODA’s most ambitious Performance Series events yet.
Composer/performer collective Ensemble Pamplemousse was founded in 2002 to provide a focal point for like-minded creators with a thirst for sonic exploration. The group is comprised of five divergent artistic personalities trained in classical (flute, violin, cello, piano, percussion), electronic, and improvisational realms. Their collective love for experimentation leads the ensemble to persistently discover new vistas of sound at the frayed edges of dissective instrumental performance. Their live sets weave together shapes of resonance, clusters of glitch, and skitters of hyper action into impeccable structures of unified beauty.
For their Austin appearance, the ensemble will be presenting their new program entitled “Absurd Limitations” which explores “the emergent product of reducing, restricting, narrowing, squelching, slicing, and otherwise removing all unnecessary fodder. In extremes, what remains is a curious series of decomplexities which the audience is driven to anatomize into a consolified structure. Space is at a premium; noise is molecular; silence is hypothetical but desired. Ensemble Pamplemousse presents 5 new works of exploitative self-limitation effectuated through the conflux of adventure and confusion.”
