About the Performance Series
The Performance Series is focused on presenting experimental music and digital performance art in a contemplative setting. The Performances are typically held at seated venues, including theaters, auditoriums, and concert halls. This allows the audience to enjoy the music or performance in an intimate, quiet environment. The work featured at Performances includes improvised music, ambient works, drone pieces, sound art, and other experimental genres. This avant-garde material enjoys a dedicated following worldwide, yet there are remarkably few opportunities to experience it in Austin.
Past Musicians and Performers
The Performance Series has featured such renowned performers and musicians as the ultra-minimalist composer Richard Chartier (Baltimore); the electro-acoustic composer Olivia Block (Chicago); the live soldering and synthesizer building trio Loud Objects (New York); and the influential filmmaker and sound artist Phill Niblock (New York). In addition to these out-of-town performers, the series has also featured many local Austin musicians and artists including Rick Reed, Josh Ronson, Imbroglio String Quartet, Jacob Green, The Weird Weeds, Alex Keller, William Meadows, and Josh Russell.
