																	Ice Cream Creatures
Ice Cream Creatures
Papergoose Records
Austin, TX

Ice Cream Creatures is a trio of musicians who came together in 2001 through a series of peculiar incidents involving mainly, poison. ICC is an archaic blending of futuristic android music and swirled, swishy vocals that mate enthusiastically with live instruments, that breathe. This can include the guitar(!), the piano, the xylophone, and various computer programs one of them claims he found in an old shoebox in his dad's closet under a pile of old batteries and musty turnips. Digital Print

"My work plays upon the ideas of mechanical reproduction, generation and transformation. I collect scans of hands. The hand begins as a tangible form that is then archived as source material. While documenting a person's presence I am also capturing a moment and recording his or her touch. Each filed hand is then edited and reproduced in multiple forms- as a sculpture, a sketch, a painting, a photograph. In this process of continuous reproduction and transformation of form and material I contemplate our ability to grasp connections with one another, the past, present and future."

Aimee Rhodes Cook was born and raised in West Texas. She received her B.A. from The University of Colorado, Boulder in political science and painting. In 1996, Aimee moved to New York City and worked for a number of years in the advertising and design world. From there she attended to the University of Texas, Austin to pursue a Master of Fine Arts in painting. It is here she began working in the digital realm. Today Aimee lives and works in Brooklyn. She maintains an artist's space, and works ... More >>

Digital Video

"The desire for knowledge in a society of singularly complex characters and crude and absurd values. A metaphor of time/space that whispers 'immersion in art and the cult to beauty will not save you', existence in a vaccum is futile and expensive, anonimity is only natural, and the cult of individualism and the mythology associated with it is sadly an encouraged goal of life. A comment on a consciously cultivated originality, which ceases to be original by the effort put into it. A question and a comment. but not an answer. The visual contradicts the auditory, in a parallel of current political affairs of 2004 and 2005, which has turned a mundane american existence into an actively questioning critical mass."

Alexander Kozovski was born in 1983 in Bulgaria. He moved to Japan in 1990, where he lived for 3 years. In 1998 he moved to the USA and in 2001 was accepted to the UT Art School. He will graduate in May of 2005 with a BFA and exhibit in the Crl Senior Show.

Alexander specializes in video art and digital image manipulation. His points of interest include video art, film and performance as well as installation with inspiration drawn from various fields including fashion, philosophy... More >>

Wisdom
Video/Animation

"Life is often discussed and perceived in fragments but yet we attempt to form a clear and concrete understanding of the world around us. I believe that an examination of these fragments in the context of the whole will allow the viewer to see that the complete idea is not as concrete as we once thought. This ultimately forces a submission to the unknown; that we instinctually fear and fight. Some imagery in my work will be clear and distinct just as some ideas are, but other segments will be confusing and distorted all the while somehow still striving to understand and piece together the complete idea."

David Rowland graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City with a Studio Art Degree. He works with a plethora of digital media including video/animation, digital imaging, DVD authoring, and audio production. His work has been displayed in Kansas City, MO at the Video Garage and UMKC Art Gallery.

																			Mumbleboy
Mumbleboy
New York, NY

Mumbleboy, aka Kinya Hanada, has made a name for himself in the world of Flash animation. He has an utterly individual art style that's blindingly colorful, hilarious, bizarre, and slightly unsettling. His work seems to draw inspiration from Japanese animation, video games, toy design, and surrealist art. Yet, perhaps his most direct influence comes from the unique limitations and capabilities of the vector graphics system within Macromedia Flash software.

																			Paper Rad
Paper Rad
Providence, RI

At once affirmative and critical, the videos of artist collective Paper Rad synthesize popular material from television, video games, and advertising, reprogramming these references with an exuberantly neo-primitivist digital aesthetic. As member Jacob Ciocci writes, "In the '70s and '80s cartoons and consumer electronics were bigger and trashier than ever and freaked kids out... Now these kids are getting older and are freaking everybody else out by using this same throw-away trash."
