																	Disco is a Dry Hump
Disco is a Dry Hump
Bibliotheque Electronique
Austin, TX

Disco is a Dry Hump is comprised of three nice young chaps from Austin Texas: Noah Passovoy, Michael Behrman, and a photograph of Richard Nixon. They often enjoy throwing a wide range of genres into their performances, covering everything from minimalist ambient to glitch mash-ups. Their sound is calculated for maximum global impact depending on America’s current foreign policy, and can range from delightfully playful to strikingly complex, just like the cooking of Iron Chef Hiroyuki Sakai.

Here come DAT politics again with their sixth album in six years of existence, called 'Wow Twist'. On this latest album, the French trio has once again evolved their sound, this time into a more song-based and pop realm, while still maintaining their taste for playful and quirky electronic excursions. The eleven tracks on 'Wow Twist' possess a new knack for perversely catchy hooks, and this joyous digital pop is often accompanied by the vocals of band-members Claude and Gaëtan whose lyrics ble... Double-Cute Battle Mode
interactive video installation

Double-Cute Battle Mode is a VJ-Remixing-Battle for 2 players that lets them mix visuals in a playful interaction. DCBM allows players to combine images and special effects in a playful battle for screen space. Using joysticks, players plug their imagination into their PC and share a creative space in an intuitive video-game style interaction. The project is presented as an installation, using a video projector to show the live remix game. This experience explores some modular approaches to the interaction experience, combining software with video game interfacing, performance and spatial design. Shoji Kawamori’s robot designs are the inspiration for the imagery that will drive the live techno-playspace. This is the first project Carlos and Aya have worked on together.

Aya Karpinska’s research and creative work focus on the intersection of physical and virtual spaces. Her diverse output includes computer music, fiction, poetry, web and graphic design, and game design. Her 3-D poetry has been featured in such venues as p0es1s, a digital poetry exhibition in Berlin, Germany, and the Fourth International Digital Art Exhibit and Colloquium in Havana, Cuba. She holds degrees in cognitive science and interactive art, and currently works as an interaction designer an... More >>

Design Division Lecture Posters
Screen Print

These posters bring my work with method and process out of the depths of the studio and into the light. Created to inform people of upcoming lectures, these posters also serve as ground for exploration of my own ideas. The John Maeda poster, for instance, features three separate elements each printed repeatedly in a row. Because of their printing these posters work much like waves of different frequencies - elements sync up occasionally only to come out of sync and then potentially in sync again.

Teetering precariously on the verge of graduation, Daniel Lievens will soon have an MFA in Design from The University of Texas at Austin, the same institution that awarded him BA in English in 1998.

Always fascinated with bending the rules of particular processes, his work focuses on ways to bring method and process to the forefront of Design. He crafts stratagems for creating work and brings those stratagems to the surface.

Daniel currently lives and works in Austin, ... More >>

Born 1978 in Dresden, Stefan Ringelschwandtner grew up in Laudenbach, near Mannheim. Since 1996, he became involved in the demo scene, creating 3D animations and other art.
