AMODA presents Austin's first Laptop Battle! This event will feature a diverse group of Texas' most skilled laptop jockeys facing off for the title of champion. The battle revolves around contestants using their laptops to musically outperform each other in a series of elimination rounds. Judged by a panel of music and art experts, the outcome of each battle is decided on a combination of stage presence, technical ability, creativity and crowd response.

The Laptop Battle concept was originated in Seattle by Fourthcity Records several years ago, and has since been held in many cities all over North America. The winner of this battle will receive a free trip to compete in the National Laptop Battle Championships in Seattle this December.

																	Feadz
Feadz
Bpitchcontrol
Paris, France

DJ Feadz is originally from Paris, and worked with Mr. Oizo on his first album “Analog Worms Attack”. Since then, he then released several EP’s on Ellen Allien's highly respected Bpitchcontrol label. His unique musical style combines cutting edge techno with a hip-hop soul, by incorporating deep bass-lines and glitchy breakbeats into a dance music context. Similarly, his DJ sets are renowned for including elements such as scratching and obscure gems from the past. But most importantly, his sets ... More >>

***Please note that Mr. Oizo is listed on the printed flyers, but will unfortunately not be able to make it due to circumstances beyond our control. We deeply apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this may cause. In recognition of this line-up change, we have lowered the door price slightly compared to what is listed on the printed flyers.

Paris, France

Uffie is an 18-year old girl from Miami. She discovered hip hop in the land of dirty south, and she never got rid of it. A few years ago she moved to Paris and ended up in the fashion world. When she booked DJ Feadz to play at a show, they met and fell in love. Eventually, Feadz asked her to do some vocals for his forthcoming project. Thus, Uffie was born.

She recently released her debut EP on Ed Banger Records, which is run by Pedro Winter, the man responsible for introducing such ... More >>

fiberoptic/LED installation

Utilizing toys, traditional night club lighting fixtures, metal, wind & other natural elements, featuring LED, collimated (laser), UV and fiber optic luminosities that are sequenced in trajectories such that “light paintings” are created on the leaves of trees, facets of crystals, fluorescent plastics & picture framed canvases create the “10,000 screens” the sum of which “paintings” become a sculpture installation in the Copa courtyard.

Avant-garde intermedia artist David Atherton's work is held in both corporate & private collections. He received his B.F.A. from Rhode Island School of Design (honors in sculpture) and his Masters of Science in Visual Studies from the Center For Advanced Visual Studies and the M.I.T. Jarrod Beck
Jarrod Beck
Austin, TX

digital prints

Jarrod Beck practices on the edge of art and architecture, constructing manifestations of the sensate through drawings, prints and built form. Transient materials are processed with a silent violence, ripped from a magazine, decapitated. Artifice and carelessness are matched against architectural precision in a series of maneuvers, drawing and redrawing, stripping images to their structure and leaving them to dissolve into an efflorescent haze.

digital video

Peter Jordan holds a BFA in Painting from the University of North Texas. Initially interested in digital media and its impact on contemporary visual discourse, his early work considered the irony of physically reproducing the digital aesthetic through analogue means. Largely this included producing large abstract color block paintings which referenced color field painting, abstract expressionism, post-painterly abstraction and new image. This early work was both contemporary and referential. ... More >>
